Hardwood Floor Finishes

Polyurethane, an oil-based finish, is the most common surface finish. It also gives the richest appearance amongst all finishing options, while being a cost effective finish.
Swedish types Waternbornefinishes are considered by some the most durable of hardwood floor finishes available. These finishes are clear, fast drying and resist yellowing and are considered a “green” option. However they tend to cost more than traditional polyurethane finishes. 

Hardwood Floor Styles

	Strip wood floors typically comes in widths of 2-2 ¼”. This can include traditional hardwood floors nailed from the top or sides and the finish is applied after intallation, or Pre-finished hard wood floors, nailed from the side.
	Wide strip/plank flooring is 4” to 5” or more wide and includes hand scraped and distressed featured woods.
	Parquet wood flooring is a series of wood flooring pieces that create a geometric design and/or a pattern that repeats. Ask us about custom designs and borders.

Moldings

According to NWFA standards, when hardwood floors are installed, Elegant Floors must leave room for floor expansion. We do this by leaving a small gap around the perimeter of the floor. For aesthetic reasons, we install moldings. Choose from several different types of molding and trim to enhance the completed installed flooring of your new or refinished floors. 

With hardwood floors, the most often used molding is baseboard along with base shoe as trim.
